About Me

My name is Kaitlin, I am 19 years old and I live in the Capital of Australia. But not for too much longer because I am venturing over to FIJI in just a few short weeks to volunteer over there for 3 and a half months! I am going over with a wonderful organization called Lattitude global volunteering  and I will be helping out at Wai District Primary School.

I started this blog in order to share this experience with my friends and family. I will be blogging before I leave, about all the things leading up to my departure. And then once I arrive in Fiji, about what I am doing over there, the wonderful people I meet and the incredible experiences I have.

At the end of last year I finished my final year of schooling and I didn’t want to go straight into another 4 years of school, so I took a gap year. Ever since I was around 15 or 16 I knew I wanted to take a year off, to travel, see the world, experience life as you will. But at the start of year 12 I changed my mind, I still wanted to take a gap year however I didn’t just want to travel, because while that would have been amazing, I wanted to give back, help people, change a life.

I knew I wanted to be a teacher since I was in primary school, but as I have grown up I have changed the age group and the subjects I would like to teach. But hopefully having this fantastic opportunity I will find out if this, teaching, is what I want to do for the rest of my life. Who knows maybe I will want to move to Fiji and teach there forever?!

Au saa liu mada.
(See you later)
